Followers of Religion:

Raipura Upazila is surrounded by:

 

-          Belabo and Bhairab upazilas on the north

-           Nasirnagar, Bancharampur, and Nabinagar upazilas on the south

-          Brahmanbaria Sadar and Nasirnagar upazilas on the east

-          Shibpur and Narsindi Sadar upazilas on the west


Noted rivers are:

 

 Meghna , old brahmaputra, Arial Kkan and Kakan.

The Meghna,Shitalakkha,the old Brahmapura,Haridhoa are some of the main rivers flow through Narsindi district.

Raipura (Town) consists of six mouzas.


The area of the Narsindi town is 13.5 sq km.

 

The town has a population of 29961

- Male 51.49%

- Female 48.51%

Population density is 2219 per sq km.

Literacy rate among the town people: 33.4%.

Historical events:

 

 Narsindi, comes from the bangla language, the term ‘Nar’ means ‘Male’ and ‘Singha’ means ‘Lion’.

Narsindi was named after an ancient king of this area who was believed to be ‘Lion like’.

During the War of Liberation the Pakistan army pitched camp at the present upazila building and set on fire many villages. The freedom fighters destroyed many bridges and culverts of the upazila to disrupt communication of the Pak army.

Most noted are Sreerampur, Radhaganj, Marjale, Hasnabad, Monipura, Bashgari, Hasimpur, Maulvi Bazar and Algi Bazar.
